Rushy Common nests revealed

Nests galore
During the winter I have been looking at the nests in the scrub beside the 200 metre stretch of path between the car park and the hide, so I decided to count them. I couldn't believe it when I found at least 22 in such a short distance in a narrow belt of trees. It is amazing what is going on so close to the path that I, for one, am unaware of in the summer. One of them is actually right on the fence line so I must have walked within a few inches of it without ever noticing it; such a sad reflection on my wildlife observation skills. As for identifying the makers of the nest that is another story altogether, if anyone can tell me I will be most grateful.

My resolution is to walk much more slowly and be more observant along there this summer.

  1. Looks like 2 dunnocks, a possible Bullfinch, and a Blackbird
